Position Summary
EES Certified Industrial Hygienists work with EES clients to assess materials to be investigated, the sampling methods appropriate for collection & analysis and the applicable standards for the situation. The process involves talking with EES clients about their production processes, safety data sheets and other relevant information. CIHs will also be called on to conduct health and safety compliance assessments and develop plans & procedures for OSHA compliance, such as Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding and respiratory protection.
EES CIHs order the necessary testing materials, execute the tests onsite and make adjustments in the field as necessary. CIHs return the test kits for analysis, review the laboratory analysis and write a draft and detailed report for peer and client review.
Responsibilities and Duties
Review facility or manufacturing processes or documentation including safety data sheets to develop a testing plan that tests for OSHA monitored materials.
Develop a proposed plan including tests, timing, budget and logistics.
Prepare quotes/proposals for new and existing clients.
Order and take delivery of the testing materials and equipment necessary to execute the testing plan.
Execute occupational safety and health consulting assignments for OSHA including on site data gathering and site exposure monitoring for chemical and noise exposure.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. degree in science or engineering.
Current Certification for Industrial Hygiene or Safety Professional
Experience working directly on OSHA compliance activities
Project management and health and safety consulting experience.
Employment Terms
Contract position - 1099.
Essential Job Functions
Valid driver's license and personal transportation.
Willingness and ability to travel to and from client locations.
Moderate math skills to calculate testing.
Basic writing skills to summarize testing plans, analysis & findings.
Ability to move comfortably in commercial and manufacturing environments as well as hospitals and similar areas.
